Chicago Winters Suck

That's all I can bring myself to write...the title of this blog...after today's hellacious commute home. I love chi-town (insert bitter sarcastic self-effacing tone for choosing to stay in the midwest here). Ciao (if only we were in Italy).

I hear you. Today it took me 55 minutes to travel 2 miles. Then another 105 to finish the remaining 16.

Last night I made the mistake of driving into the city to watch the Super Bowl. Yesterday morning, the forecast was 1-2" of snow at some point during the night. By the time I left after the halftime show there was at least 3" already on the ground and the expressways were -- pardon my French -- slicker than snot on a doorknob. Took me almost 2 hours to get home and I had to pry my fingers off the steering wheel after clenching it the entire time. And we're getting another 6" of snow tomorrow night!! What fun!!!!!

I'm bringing my computer home tomorrow night. If it's more than a dusting, I'm not even going to try it. Because they're still building our subdivision, the plowing responsibility falls to the builder. Who seems to start caring about the roads right at about 7:00 a.m. the following morning.

@Jeanine--"slicker than snot on a doorknob"!?! I've never heard that one before. I love it! It sounds very Southern or Texan in origin. : )

Yeah, winter sucks this year. I'm in the NW burbs of Chicago, but I assure you, our snow is equally horrible.

Supposed to snow today and all night. I'd check to see if it was snowing now, but my office is windowless, and I'm very lazy.

Hi everyone,

Glad to see everyone is as thrilled with the nearly two-week stint of crappy weather we've had as I am. It's times like these I imagine Californians only wish they had the gonads to deal with :)

I promise to put up a new post soon. In the meantime, smile nicely to all the wonderful SUV owners who think that big car=good driver ;)
